Assassin's Creed Unveils Surprising Attack on Titan Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a surprising partnership that breaks usual predictions, Ubisoft has announced an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Disclosed
According to the formal statement, "A mysterious confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where hints of prohibited rituals and terrifying changes echo through the shadows." The storyline features a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a secret cult.
The questline centers on "strange tests and a fearsome foe" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses
The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer concludes with a striking scene showing a character, probably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Bonus Material
Players who successfully complete the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana alongside numerous items secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Addition
This patch also brings the game's newest free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This humorous mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic abilities: Naoe debuts a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally included a quest that clearly echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
